Three attributes have been identified which team players must possess. If any of them is missing, the process of team building will be incomplete. The person must be humble enough to accept overall team benefits rather than individual ones. Such a person strives towards achieving the corporate strategy rather than personal ones only. The person must be hungry to have the desire to learn new things and striving to be better at work. Finally, the team player must demonstrate smartness so that he/she can appreciate the importance of group dynamics. A heady cocktail of any two such attributes but lacking the third may have undesirable effects. Someone not smart enough will lack interpersonal skills to forge team ties. Someone lacking hunger will not be motivated enough so will only do tasks explicitly told to do. Most destructive will be the one sans humility as he/she will only think of personal goals and will not care for broader requirements.
