They tend to be technical experts at certain aspects, notably with technology. Most of them would not claim mastery of talent management as they lack the charisma associated with such leaders, yet by the sheer dint of their problem-solving abilities, people tend to flock towards them. This problem-led approach leads to major impacts on society. These leaders do not aspire to be generalists, but experts in their own domain of choice. They forge connections through the services they provide.

Our present world of round-the-clock digital connectivity can seem proactive at times, but in truth generates enormous amounts of stress. The human mind is not made for this sort of instant reaction, but for detailed analysis. Data warehousing and gauging insights from it comes naturally to the human mind. A calendar must present the intricate details, with specific family time as well. Meetings and project notes need to be recorded for future evaluation. To do this, maintaining a journal has been observed as the best method as it generates reticular activation when done using pen and paper. It stimulates mindful concentration. This enables a proper feedback loop with oneself balancing the “being” and “doing” aspects.

The biggest reasons that mergers-and-acquisitions tend to frequently fail, is the human factor. People, especially the leaders on top refuse to change. They do not fear experimentation for the sake of innovation. This also fosters an ideal environment for R&D managers to thrive.
