MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

The work culture between different countries can be very big and these nuances need to be understood to effectively work across regions or cultures. And when the difference is between North America and India, the differences are immense. Lunch time for example in India is actually meant for eating together while in North America it is often skipped at the workplace or a working lunch taking. In the former,  employees seem to be next to their work stations the whole day as the culture is less tethered to mobile phones unlike in the latter where employees can often not be spotted next to their desks the whole day. This has a huge impact during digital marketing rounds as all campaigns need to be streamlined for computers as well as smart-phones. Indians are also observed to take longer holidays for grandparents’ death, children’s birthdays or when family members get ill, concepts that are unheard of in North America.
