The government has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court
against the recent Andhra Pradesh High Court order, which allowed political advertisements
on television.

Experts pegged the Internet advertising industry at Rs 40 crore in 2003. In 2004, the
Indian online advertising market should be around Rs 80 crore, said Yahoo country manager
Neville Taraporewalla. In the last one year, Yahoo India claims to have seen a 40 per
centincrease in advertisements and a 100 per cent increase in revenues from the Net.

Since it began operations in April, Rediffusion DYR Sri Lanka has now set the billing
target for 2004 at SLR 600 million (Rs 27 crore). The agency in the past two months has
been associated with two brand launches (including two new car models-Megane and Laguna
for Renault) and three new campaigns.

Television
CNBC-TV18 is planning to launch an international channel for the
direct-to-home (DTH) service aimed at overseas Indian audiences in the Middle East, UK,
Eur ope, US, Singapore and Hong Kong. It will have a distinctly "business, general,
political, lifestyle and feature news" focus and will be launched towards the end of
the year.

Aaj Tak remains ahead with more than double the channel share of its nearest competitor.
It had a share of 35.2% C&S homes during prime time, from first to the seventh week of
this year. Aaj Tak was followed by DD News, which had a share of 15.7%. NDTV India was
third with a 15.4% share. Star News, Zee News and Sahara Samay were 13.5%, 13% and 7.2%
respectively.

Prasar Bharati, which has secured the broadcasting rights for the Olympic games through
the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union for $5million, would have all India-related events in
the mega sports festival on a dedicated channel in Hindi-DD1. Efforts are on to provide
Indians with double the transmission they got from Sydney in 2000.

In its final ruling given recently, CESTAT rejected the appeals against the orders passed
by the Commissioner of Central Excise in Mumbai. Both Zee and Star had argued that they
were in fact operating as collection agents for their holding companies based abroad and
therefore were not liable to pay service tax as far as ad revenues earned out of India
were concerned.

Zee Telefilms today bagged a $5 million animation content development deal from Mallard
TV, a television channel in Scotland. The project will be executed by Zee Institute of
Creative Arts, a group company under Padmalaya Telefilms. The company yesterday also
bagged a $ 14 million deal from Mondo TV, Europe's second largest animation channel.

Radio City 91 FM has unveiled its grandiloquent election 2004 manifesto with
a catchy line - Janta Jagao, Desh Hilao. City is all set to engage listeners in the
election process through a series of innovative, informative and exclusive programmes.
This special programming line up which includes programmes like Kya Baat Kar Raha Hai,
Janta Chunegi Apna Mantriji, Popat, Public City, Iss Ghante, Rajdhani Express and
Thengalalji will be spread over five weeks across the Radio City stations in Mumbai, New
Delhi, Bangalore and Lucknow.

Radio Mirchi also is all set with it's 10-day special titled Public Demand dedicated to
the forthcoming elections where the station will dedicate one hour from each of its
four-time bands (except Dil Chahta Hai) to the 14th general elections. Mirchi's idea is to
give listeners a platform to voice their problems they believe need to be taken care of
first by the government.

Rediff.com and Yahoo! India have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly
promote online shopping and mobile content across both the portals. Under the agreement
Rediff will power the Yahoo! India shopping channel while Yahoo! India will showcase their
prime content like ringtones, polyphonic tunes, wallpapers, java games among others on the
Rediff.com website.
